Dog Training - The Basic Steps

Attack Dogs are dogs that are specifically trained to bite a target to immobilize, hold and injure, or possibly kill them. They attack not when they are threatened nor angry but are rather trained to attack on the command based from their master or attack on sight.

Attack dogs are useful to guard you against any potential harm. These dogs can be a good sentinel to your property or defend you from danger or from serious offenders.

Attack dog training is a method or program wherein a dog trainer teaches a dog to assault a target based on a command given or in best cases attack in initiative lest their owners are injured or cannot give the certain command.

They have various roles in public service such as in the military as well as the police force, and are also used in dog fighting.

Basic steps for Attack Dog Training:
The best way to train a dog is by giving it a reward for every achievement they have done, so don't forget to give a reward so that they will be encouraged to follow more commands. A variety of ways are taught step by step to accomplish these fully trained and obedient canines

First of all, a dog must be able to follow basic commands such as "sit", "stay", and "heel" as these are the fundamentals in becoming an attack dog. Instructing these commands in isolation and as well in public places where there can be distractions can be helpful for they will familiarize your voice so that in the later part, they can only follow and be submissive only to your commands. Teach the dog to be unresponsive, impassive to strangers or other dogs so that they can only see you as their master and will have no bias.

Once the dog has perfected the basic commands, then the actual attack dog training can begin. It is best to start training the dog by the leash to control them, and work in the direction of having the dog abide the instructions without the leash controlling it. Start by picking out a single word for the "attack" and "stop" command so that the dog won't be confused.

One way to improve and strengthen the dog's bite is by starting with a stick. Teasing them with the stick stimulates the dog's innate fierceness. If they have gotten used to the stick, move on to a bite suit and are best worn by another person or an "Agitator". Train the dog to bite on the arms and the legs to immobilize the person. And once it has mastered them, teach them to react without issuing a command by basing it only when you are under attack or in any danger so that they will act in their own initiative if the owner has been unconscious or unable to give the command. Remember that Attack Dog Training is not an easy task. So for advance training which is not for amateurs, it is best to seek professional help. Local police K-9 units can give suggestions.
